The North West Company (NWC) is looking to fill a Data Analyst (Summer Student) position within the Strategy, Planning and Analytics team. In this role, you will support the Strategy team and business units by analyzing data, producing reports, and generating insights that inform operational and strategic decision-making.

Your Role:
Conduct data analysis using appropriate tools and methods to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities.
Prepare recurring and ad-hoc reports to support business initiatives and strategic planning.
Develop dashboards and visualizations using tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Excel.
Monitor and track key performance indicators (KPIs), comparing results against targets, benchmarks, and historical trends.
Perform deeper analyses of sales and operational data to identify opportunities for revenue growth and efficiency improvements.
Support business case development, project documentation, and presentations.
Assist in defining performance metrics and improving reporting processes and data quality.
Research market and competitive trends to support planning activities.
Respond to data requests from departments across the organization.
Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business questions and translate them into analytical solutions.
Support evaluation of new initiatives and programs using data-driven insights.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Desired Skills & Experience:
Strong Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, and data manipulation.
Working knowledge of SQL or similar data querying tools.
Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
Basic understanding of data analysis techniques and statistics.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify trends and recommend solutions.
High attention to detail and accuracy.
Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
Willingness to learn new tools, systems, and business domains.
