This summer opportunity provides valuable, hands-on experience in corporate communications, event coordination, and content creation while supporting employee engagement initiatives across the organization.
ACCOUNTABILITIES Your accountabilities in this role will provide hands-on experience in corporate communications, event coordination, and content creation while supporting employee engagement initiatives across the organization. Working alongside the Events Manager and Communications Director, you will gain exposure to internal communications, social media management, and event planning processes that help strengthen company culture and community connections. The ideal candidate will demonstrate curiosity, initiative, and a willingness to support a variety of projects in a fast-paced environment.. Also, the candidate will:
Assist with planning and execution of Staff Club and employee engagement events under the direction of the Events Manager (e.g., Winnipeg summer staff event, fun runs, volunteer initiatives).
Support logistics such as event communications, registration coordination, on-site support, and post-event recaps for sharepoint.
Capture photos and content from events for use in internal communications and social media.
Develop and draft social media content for The North West Company’s corporate channels (LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram) that highlights employee stories, community initiatives, and company culture.
Assist in creating visual and written content that reinforces the company’s brand and reputation with employees, communities, and external stakeholders.
Support development of content for internal communications channels, including employee spotlights, announcements, and stories highlighting community engagement and company initiatives.
Assist in drafting intranet posts and internal updates to help keep employees informed and connected across the organization.
Assist the Communications Director with general administrative and project support, including website audit, maintaining content libraries, and preparing draft materials for review.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS The successful candidate is professional, detail oriented, and has the ability to manage work efficiently and effectively, with proven organizational, planning, and prioritizing skills. The candidate should also possess a passion for challenging work and be prepared to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.The candidate must also have:
Post-secondary diploma in Creative Communications, Marketing, or a related field, or current enrollment in a relevant program, is required.Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to draft engaging content for internal communications and social media.
Demonstrated interest in corporate communications, employee engagement, event planning, or content creation.
Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to support multiple projects and event logistics in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Familiarity with social media platforms (LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram) and basic content creation; experience with tools such as Canva or photography is considered an asset.
Previous office, communications, or marketing experience is considered an asset.
