In your role as the Indirect Sourcing Buyer at The North West Company (TNWC); you will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and managing suppliers for operational supplies such as apparel, labels, office supplies, and packaging. Your Role:
Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers for operational supplies such as apparel, labels, office supplies, and packaging.
Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms to secure cost-effective and high-quality supplies.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with key vendors to ensure reliable supply and performance.
Analyze procurement spend to identify cost-saving opportunities and improve efficiency.
Consolidate suppliers where possible to leverage bulk discounts and rebates.
Stay updated on market trends, new suppliers, and innovative materials or products.
Propose alternative solutions for cost savings or process improvements.
Occasionally travels to supplier locations.
Conducts negotiations and vendor meetings requiring strategic planning and analysis.
Oversees contract negotiations and cost-saving initiatives.
Desired Skills & Abilities:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field (preferred).
Professional certification such as CIPS, SCMP, or CPSM would be considered an asset.
3+ years of experience in procurement, sourcing, or supply chain management, preferably in indirect categories.
Strong understanding of indirect procurement, supplier evaluation, selection, and qualification.
Proven ability to negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with vendors while ensuring compliance.
Expertise in identifying cost-saving opportunities, optimizing procurement spend, and consolidating suppliers for bulk discounts.
Ability to analyze procurement spend data, develop cost-reduction strategies, and improve efficiency.
Experience in building and maintaining supplier relationships, assessing vendor performance, and managing supplier risks.
Knowledge of market trends, emerging suppliers, and industry best practices with a problem-solving mindset for cost-saving solutions.
Proficiency in ERP systems, e-procurement platforms, and Microsoft Excel for procurement analysis.
Ability to analyze data, handle supplier contracts, and improve procurement processes.
Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate and work with cross-functional teams.
Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
