Inventory Control Analyst

Status: Regular Full-Time

In your role as the Inventory Control Analyst at The North West Company (TNWC); you will be managing store central receiving, supporting stores by performing inventory counts, preparing inventory count packages, and reviewing inventories to validate results. You will serve as a liaison between Finance and Operations departments, with the opportunity to collaborate across the organization. Your Role:

 
  • Collaborate with the inventory team to enhance operational efficiency and streamline processes.
  • Proactively identify deficiencies in inventory management processes and recommend improvements.
  • Train new employees on inventory control processes and best practices, while providing coverage for staff absences and vacations to ensure continuity of operations.
  • Assis in the review of inventory counts, including identifying and following up on irregularities.
  • Supporting the merchandising team with costing and casepack issues.
  • Support by leveraging knowledge from hands on experience and connections within the organization.
  • Provide training and guidance to stores on proper receiving techniques and compliance with Nutrition North policies.
  • Ensure accurate inventory management by reviewing food and general merchandise Central Receiving documents, verifying store compliance with Central Receiving policies, and addressing any discrepancies.
  • Communicate with stores regarding the receipt of weekly receiving registers and follow up on missing packing slips, claims, and document clarifications related to inventory results.
  • Follow up with the relevant stakeholders to resolve variances.

Desired Skills & Abilities:
  • Post-secondary education in a related field.
  • Supervisory experience in retail and/or warehouse settings.
  • Hands-on experience in a retail environment, with the ability to perform physical inventory counts and implement best practices.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to address a wide range of inventory-related issues in store operations.
  • Strong accounting knowledge, with experience in record-keeping and/or bookkeeping.
  • Experience in assisting retail stores with receiving, inventory write-offs, inventory count execution, and resolving inventory count procedure queries.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office with a focus on Excel.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to northern stores as required.
