Compliance and Reporting Analyst

Our Financial Services Department is seeking an individual to join our team, at The North West Company (NWC) as a Compliance and Reporting Analyst. In this position, you play a key role in the areas of risk and compliance by ensuring all legal and regulatory compliance industry standards are met. You assist in the development of analytics and product strategy, as well as support operational decisions across the financial services offered by NWC.

Your Role:

  • Assist in ensuring regular (daily/weekly/monthly) review of compliance in all areas by identifying potentially unusual transactions;
  • Analyze data and deliver researched and planned reports;
  • Support monthly/quarterly/annual Compliance Risk Assessment, document results and support the implementation of remediation measures;
  • Assist with maintenance and improvements of Financial Services KPIs;
  • Ad hoc reporting and database mining to support product and business managers, and risk management;
  • Create and maintain standard operating procedures for compliance to ensure consistent execution;
  • Develop and deliver of prescribed reporting and analysis to support a robust risk management and compliance program;
  • Monitor and evaluate product trends, market trends industry best practice process improvement opportunities to ensure compliance;
  • Identify opportunities for improvement;
  • Respond in a timely and accurate manner to internal requests for information and consultation;
  • Ensure that relevant internal stakeholders have the necessary product compliance information;
  • Maintenance of the required product and compliance data, working with product vendors and external service providers.

 

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor of Commerce degree or an equivalent combination of education/training, and experience;
  • Proficient in MS Excel. VBA’s and SQL knowledge is considered an asset;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with proven team player abilities;
  • Effective communication both in person, by phone and in writing;
  • Highly organized and self-motivated;
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive data;
  • Ability to analyze specific details and or components of a problem without losing perspective of the bigger picture and or project goals;
  • Ability to learn concepts and industry best practices with an aptitude to apply this knowledge in a dynamic and active business environment; and
  • Strong business acumen.
