Training & Development Coordinator
In your role as a Training & Development Coordinator for The North West Company (TNWC), you are responsible for the day-to-day administration and operations of the Winnipeg Training Centre, coordinating learner schedules, training logistics, travel and accommodations, records, and vendor services. The Coordinator serves as the primary contact for learners, trainers, and internal stakeholders, ensuring training programs are delivered efficiently and learners receive timely support throughout their training.

Your Role:
- Coordinate Training Centre schedules, classroom utilization, learner attendance, training resources, and program logistics to support efficient training delivery.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for learners throughout their training experience, responding to questions, providing support, and proactively addressing concerns.
- Work closely with trainers, recruitment, operations, and other internal stakeholders to coordinate training schedules, learner progress, attendance, onboarding, orientation, and graduation activities.
- Coordinate learner travel, accommodations, transportation, catering, and other logistics, including the shipment of personal belongings to assigned training locations.
- Maintain accurate learner records, training documentation, confidential information, and reporting in accordance with organizational requirements.
- Support the day-to-day operation and presentation of the Training Centre by ensuring classrooms, equipment, supplies, and common areas are prepared for training activities.
- Purchase and monitor training supplies, materials, food, and other resources required for Training Centre operations.
- Coordinate facility access, room bookings, maintenance, repairs, and other facility-related services as required.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with learners, trainers, operational leaders, recruiters, vendors, service providers, and external partners.
- Coordinate external vendors and service providers, including hotels, transportation providers, caterers, maintenance providers, and third-party training organizations.
- Obtain quotes, negotiate rates where appropriate, monitor service delivery, and resolve issues related to contracted services.
- Monitor learner progress and provide timely updates to internal stakeholders regarding attendance, performance, graduation status, and other program requirements.
- Respond appropriately to urgent or emergency situations involving learners and escalate concerns when necessary.
- Prepare reports and maintain documentation related to training participation, attendance, learner feedback, operational metrics, compliance, and audits.
- Gather learner feedback and identify trends, recurring issues, and opportunities to improve Training Centre processes and the overall learner experience.
- Assist with special events, graduation activities, tours, stakeholder visits, and other Training Centre initiatives.
- Perform general administrative duties including correspondence, document preparation, data entry, filing, records management, and reporting.
- Participate in departmental projects and recommend improvements to policies, procedures, and learner support processes.
Desired Skills & Experience:
- Minimum two years of experience in an administrative, coordination, customer service, or training support role.
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, Office Administration, Adult Education, Training & Development, or a related field is considered an asset. A combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
- Strong organizational, time management, and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with strong problem-solving, customer service, and teamwork abilities.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to handle confidential information appropriately.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams.
- Experience supporting training, onboarding, learning and development, or workforce programs is considered an asset.
- Experience in retail, customer service, hospitality, food service, or operations is considered an asset.
- Experience coordinating travel, accommodations, or events is considered an asset.
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends based on business needs.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally.
- Valid driver's license, access to a vehicle, and ability to travel to multiple locations within the city.
