Car Fleet Manager

Status: Regular Full-Time

In your role as the Car Fleet Manager at The North West Company (TNWC); you will be responsible for the procurement, maintenance, and cost optimization of the company's vehicle fleet. This includes negotiating leasing agreements, managing operating costs, ensuring vehicle compliance, and leveraging fleet management technologies to optimize vehicle utilization and reduce expenses.

Your Role:

 
  • Negotiate contracts with car leasing companies, car dealers, maintenance providers, and fuel vendors.
  • Ensure cost-effective purchasing or leasing of vehicles by considering the total cost of ownership (TCO).
  • Prepare and monitor the fleet budget, ensuring cost efficiency.
  • Track expenses such as fuel, maintenance, insurance, and leasing costs, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Monitor vehicle utilization to ensure the fleet size meets operational needs.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce idle or underutilized vehicles.
  • Use fleet management software to track vehicle performance, fuel consumption, and driver activities.
  • Implement GPS and telematics systems to improve fleet efficiency and optimize routing.
  • Ensure all vehicles comply with safety regulations, insurance policies, and corporate governance standards.
  • Implement policies for vehicle maintenance schedules and monitor driver safety.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with vehicle suppliers, leasing companies, insurance providers, and internal stakeholders to ensure smooth fleet operations.
  • Responsible for managing fleet budget (vehicle procurement, leasing, fuel, insurance, maintenance).
  • Oversee contract negotiations and cost-saving initiatives to improve fleet efficiency.
  • Travel as required to fleet locations to meet vendors, and inspect vehicles.

 Desired Skills & Abilities:
 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field (preferred).
  • 2+ years of experience in fleet management, procurement, or logistics.
  • Experience in vehicle leasing, insurance, and maintenance contract negotiations.
  • Background in cost control and expense management.
  • Strong negotiation skills for vehicle leasing and supplier contracts.
  • Experience in fleet management, logistics, or transportation, along with proficiency in fleet tracking software & telematics systems.
  • Expertise in budget management & cost control.
  • Strong analytical & problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage stakeholder & vendor relationships.
  • Ability to analyze data, negotiate contracts, and coordinate with multiple departments.
